Almost Summer? Microbrew Festival This Weekend!!!

Are you ready for the good news, or shall I break the good news first? Either way, microbrew-festival-02it’s a definite win! The recent streak of clear, summer-like days (only without the humidity) is forecast to last at least through Friday evening—although if you still have a touch of spring fever, don’t worry, because the milder temperatures will be back next week.

And now for the good news, if you think you can handle it: it’s time for the Downtown Sumter Microbrew Festival! Tomorrow night from 6 to 9 p.m., downtown’s Main Street will be open for celebration: dancing, feasting, and a chance to sample more than 35 microbrew beers, along with a home brew competition and a variety of food and beverages for sale at Rotary Centennial Plaza (corner of S. Main and E. Liberty Streets).

The event is hosted by Sumter Senior Services, with proceeds going to support Meals on Wheels and other health/wellness programming.  Tickets are still available for advance purchase ($25 each) until 1 p.m. on May 9, can be picked up at 119 South Sumter Street until 4 p.m., following which they will be available at the event for $30.  A commemorative event T-shirt will also be available for purchase. For more information, please call (803) 773-5508 or visit  The festival opens on Friday night, May 9, 2013 at 6 p.m., and will also feature live music from POWER, with Terence Lonon.

So get out your dancing shoes, and look forward to tipping a cool one in preparation for the Sumter summer nights still to come!
