Retired Captain, United States Marine Corps…pastor…actor…motivational speaker—what a resume! And that’s just scratching the surface of Ken Bevel, this year’s keynote speaker at the annual Sumter Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast to be held this Thursday, May 1.
Bevel, who serves as Senior Associate Pastor at Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia, is indeed a man of many talents; he was even name-checked in a positive TIME magazine review of the 2008 movie, Fireproof . He has also appeared in Courageous (2011).
A limited number of tickets are still available for event, which will take place on May 1, 2014 at the Sumter County Civic Center, 700 West Liberty Street. Breakfast will be served beginning at 6:30 a.m., with the program commencing at 7:30. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door, and available at the Swan Lake Visitors Center and the Olive Tree Christian Bookstore on Bultman Drive.
The theme for the 2014 National Day of Prayer is “One Voice United in Prayer.” In addition to the breakfast, an observance will be held on the steps of the historic Sumter County Courthouse (141 Main Street) at 12 noon. This event, hosted by the Sumter Ministerial Association, is FREE and open to the public.
