Live music in Sumter is generally popular (witness our successful downtown events), but there are some groups that always guarantee an absolutely full house. On Sunday, October 14, the Sumter-Shaw Community Concert Association is proud to present USAF Academy Band, the Falconaires at Patriot Hall.
A premier jazz band of the US Air Force Academy for more than 50 years, the ensemble takes its name from the mascot of the Cadet Wing. The eighteen full-time jazz musicians bring the best of traditional and contemporary big-band jazz, the only musical genre with all-American roots, to audiences around the world. As stated on their website, they use “the power of music to inspire Air Force personnel and the nation they serve… and communicate Air Force excellence to millions around the globe.” From elementary schools to Musicfest Canada, and everywhere in between, the Falconaires celebrate American pride.
Admission to the Falconaires concert is free, but tickets are required. Please send SASE to Falconaires, c/o the Sumter Chamber of Commerce, 32 E. Calhoun Street, Sumter SC 29150. For more info, call Patriot Hall at (803) 436-2260. The show will begin at 3:00 p.m. Patriot Hall is located at 135 Haynsworth Street in Sumter’s historic district.
Now, do not wait around on this one, because these tickets will go fast. Come out and enjoy the sounds of America!
