“Moderation in all things” has been a catchphrase for as long as I can remember. It’s a good one, and it definitely has its place. But once a year, I grant you personal permission to eat everything in sight…and feel good about it!
It’s time again for the annual Sumter Green Fall Feast, taking place on September 20, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. at the Nettles Building, USC Sumter. With great food, great entertainment, and a feast of friends, this is one of Sumter’s most exciting annual events. If you aren’t familiar with the Fall Feast, take a look at last year’s event here.
There will be some changes this year, according to event chair Lynn Kennedy, and they’re all good! The themed event, “Fall Feast-A-Ville,” takes its name from the Buffett classic “Margaritaville,” and features a tropical theme. There won’t be margaritas served, but there definitely will be a fantastic selection of beer and wine, along with some amazing food (including whole roast pig and other exotic fare, as well as local favorites like shrimp and grits, zesty collards and a whole lot more), live entertainment from Virtually Unshockable and as always, all the desserts you can possibly hold. Brought to you by Sumter Green and presenting sponsor FTC, 2012 promises to top all previous feasts!
Advance tickets are $30, available NOW at the Swan Lake Visitors Center. Don’t wait, because with approximately 500 people in attendance each year, each day means a greater chance that you could miss out! However, there will be a limited number of door tickets available for $40. Adults only, please. All proceeds benefit Sumter Green. For more information, please call the Swan Lake Visitors Center at (803) 436-2640 or toll-free at 1-800-688-4748.
I promise…you won’t be “wasting away” after this one!
