Okay, there’s a first time for everything, right? Today’s post represents two of them:
- This is probably the first time I have ever written two consecutive entries on the same topic, but
- That’s because this is the first time that Sumter has ever seen a show like this one!
Saturday, July 21 will mark the first ever “Cabaret Night” at the Sumter Little Theatre. There’s an exciting season already lined up and ready to start at the end of August, but Saturday night offers a preview of some outstanding local talent in a more intimate setting.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a reception featuring light hors d’oeuvres and an assortment of beer, wine and soft drinks. At eight o’clock, the event moves into the theatre, where some of Sumter’s finest entertainers will offer their interpretations of standards and show tunes. Reminiscent of the stage performances that played an important part in classic movie musicals, it’s a perfect date night!
The Sumter Little Theatre is located at 14 Mood Avenue in the Sumter County Cultural Center. Season ticket holders (for the 2012-13 season) will be admitted FREE. All other tickets are available for a $15 donation. Season memberships will be available at the event. Advance reservations strongly recommended; adults only, please.
For more info, please call SLT at (803) 775-2150 between the hours of 3-6 p.m. (Monday through Friday). And in the meantime, check your wardrobe and get ready to slip into something a little sophisticated, as you enjoy a cool time with some hot performances. They’ll be glad to save a seat for you!
