Although we are still a couple of weeks away from Thanksgiving, many people have already begun making plans for the holidays…where to go, what to buy, how to entertain friends and family. Sometimes it seems as though the entire time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve is one big celebration, as we all pause to give thanks and then enjoy the abundance that has been bestowed upon us.
In 2002, the Sumter tourism office began to compile the numerous holiday events into the area under one heading, “The Poinsettia Festival.” Unlike the spring Iris Festival, this is not one event, taking place in one area. Rather, it’s a marketing tool designed to make it easier to find out exactly what is going on where during the holiday season.
In order to help make your planning easier, the events schedule for this year’s festival is online now. Click here to find a printable brochure (PDF) listing the events taking place all over Sumter as Christmas draws closer every day. A schedule of entertainment for the Fantasy of Lights at Swan Lake will be online very soon, as well.
“Black Friday” is just two weeks away, so won’t it be nice to know already what you’re doing for the holidays? With such a wide array of activities, there’s a celebration for people of every age!
