Who has one of the biggest fireworks displays in the state of South Carolina? We do!!! Sumter is ready to celebrate Independence Day at Jammin’ July 4th, being held at Dillon Park on Monday, July 4th. The festivities start at 5 p.m. and will go on until 11 p.m. There will be food vendors galore, rides and children’s activities, and entertainment from the Blue Aces. More than just a great rock band, the Aces have performed for the President of the United States and for our troops deployed abroad.
The excitement continues all day, including a parachute jump, with everything leading up to Shaw’s famous fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. For approximately half an hour, it’s hard not to feel patriotic and recall the words of our National Anthem as the “rockets’ red glare” (and a bunch of other colors, too!) light up the night. Afterward, the party continues until 11 p.m.!
Dillon Park is located at 1210 Clara Louise Kellogg Drive. From Main Street or 521 North, please turn onto North Pike West to access the park entrance. Or, just avoid the parking hassle altogether and take advantage of FREE shuttle service provided by RTA! The buses will leave from Sumter Mall (on the Belk Department Store end) every thirty minutes. (The shuttles are wheelchair accessible.) Admission is free; refreshments and ride admissions are available for a charge.
Jammin’ July 4th is hosted by the 20th Force Support Squadron, in cooperation with the City of Sumter, Sumter County and the support of our local sponsors. For more information, please visit online at www.20thfss.com or call (803) 895-4897.
